Last Tuesday, the 16th, Palisade students packed the stands to watch the Boys Varsity basketball team match up against Fruita. Our team fought hard and played amazingly but in the end lost with a score of 40-47.
The team has been working hard all year and came to the game ready to show the district what they’re made of. Through the first half of the game incredibly close and Palisade was showing off their amazing defense. Throughout the third and fourth quarter, the score went back and forth and the student section was on the edge of their seats. Palisade kept their defense strong and made some really impressive shots and layups, but in the end, Fruita barely took the win. The starting five were LJ Ballenger, Carter Hayward, Hunter Howard, Fred Moore, and Lane Ruppelius. I talked with Nate Perry about the game and his thoughts, perry is a sophomore and has played basketball for Palisade since his freshman year. “It was a really good game, I’m really happy with how we played and how we were able to hold our own against Fruita, our defense was really strong throughout the whole game and it really shows in the first half, we were able to make some good shots but in the end Fruita was able to get the upper hand in the last quarter.” The student section was accompanied by the cheer team who kept spirits high and the student section loud. On Friday the 19th the team travels to Glenwood to compete against the Demons. Good luck bulldogs!
