Grand decorations and energetic students packed the gym at Shades of Shenanigans on December 2nd. This special event was put on by Palisade’s amazing Student Council, who plan all school dances.

Senior Ivana Ceballos described the vibe as, “super chill, it really was a very casual event where we just wanted everyone to feel very comfortable with no pressure that can come along from dances such as Prom and Hoco.

At 8 o’clock, a big surprise was revealed. “The shenanigan was a switch from black and white to colorful, with lights and confetti. This fueled the energy that moshes at dances usually have,” describes Ceballos. Along with new surprising twists, there were traditional elements at the dance. These included a photo booth and hype DJ.

Ceballos adds, “I definitely think the highlight was when we turned the flashing lights on and popped confetti, you could quickly feel everyone begin to engage more!

Shades of Shenanigans served as a replacement for Sadie Hawkins. Ceballos expresses, “We wanted a fun element which is where the shenanigan came from, as we wanted to branch off from the more traditional Sadie’s dance and make it something more inclusive and with less pressure.”

StuCo never fails to reach success with their carefully planned and out of the box ideas. “In StuCo we’re split into committees; Adhocs and Standings. Shades of Shenanigans was an Adhoc, so 6 people in the committee mostly planned the dance while the rest of StuCo helped,” explained Ceballos.

Everyone who attended Shades of Shenanigans agreed that the night resulted in positive memories and fun.
