As fall sports start to come to an end, the major accomplishments of these dedicated athletes must be recognized, one major achievement Ian Allen being the only Palisade High School student to have qualified for State Golf Tournament. The golf team this year had a slow start the the season but then picked up momentum ending on immense personal growth. Having only five seniors making up part of the team with a total of overall 17the team was very young and had its ups and downs. Mallory Brownell, the boys golf manager states, “We have a very young team this year because a lot of our really good seniors graduated last year, so our top five golfers actually consisted of two underclassmen. We also had a good amount of brand new seniors, so it was their first time ever playing golf but there was a lot of good improvement throughout the season. We started out a little rocky, but we definitely did get a lot better especially for the first time people. This season was a great stepping stone to next year.” Ian Allen, a senior at Palisade High School was sent off to state on Monday to Bridges Golf Course in Montrose, Colorado. Sending Alan to state was a major accomplishment because he was in the top three out of everyone at regionals. Allen beat a lot of Palisades local rivals which is an immense achievement. Mallory explains, “Ian Allen placing top three at regionals was one of the major highlights for the team.” Allen has been participating in golf for about five years and he’s very passionate about improving his game each day he comes to practice and every tournament. The state golf tournament ended on Wednesday and Allen finished 31st in the state. The Bridges course is notoriously known for being a challenging one, with lots of sand traps and obstacles on every hole. This was no stopping Allen, as he had another great round according to head coach Jan Norell. Although the golf team had a rocky start, they made immense improvement built on the dedication each person embodied.
