The Nightmare of Floods

Last Thursday between the hours of 4:30pm and 6:30pm the Redlands got hit hard, flash flooding spread in the small suburban community. The residents in this small little town have not seen this amount of rain in decades. The rain and flooding has caused severe damage to the homes and lives of people. The normally peaceful atmosphere is now struggling to have a useful home, space to store valuable items, and a home to live in. Many locals are worried about how they are going to recover from this natural disaster. Not just the local houses have been effected. The roads in the area were filled with erosion and water throughout the next couple days. Stephanie Rush, who is one of the residents in the area states, “Why is there like sand and rocks in the road like in my street?” She later goes on to state,“ I open the garage and there is like an inch of water in the garage.” Rush and her husband have been effected by this flash flooding, but not as much as others in the community. She had commented that other houses have been flooded worse so far they had to call their insurance to figure out if the damage was repairable. This goes to show that the Grand Valley is unpredictable. The weather is unpredictable because out in Palisade there had been barely a drop of rain. This goes to show, even though a storm may have not effected you, it can effect others and to be cautious and aware and know what’s happening in your area.
