The Girls’ Swim season has approached its end for the 2024-2025 season, capping it off with an outstanding performance at the 4A Conference. This success was particularly notable as our Bulldogs were crowned champions for the first time in six years. One of our very own athletes set new and incredible personal bests and was recognized as one of the top swimmers in the state. The girls swam at Colorado Mesa University, competing against ten other schools to determine their qualifications for the State competition.
On Friday, January 31st at 6 p.m. the girls swam in a preliminary round. Each school’s coaches placed their top swimmers in the races where they were expected to excel based on their season performances. The following day, February 1st, the top 16 swimmers swam their same events in a final round at 1 p.m.
Junior Emily Hardin swam all of her events in both the prelim and final rounds. She achieved new personal records in both the 50 freestyle (24.62 seconds) and the 100 fly (103.62 seconds). Hardin has been swimming since her Freshman year of high school and her achievements throughout her career have earned her spot as the number one Junior in all of the 4A State classification, as well at top five overall.
“I think the season has been really great and really successful. This year we have a lot more club swimmers, so they have more experience and have been swimming for a long time and so at all of the meets we’ve been more competitive and have had more State qualifiers.” Hardin reflects. “We haven’t won Conference in six years, but with the help of all the club swimmers we were able to claim our win.”
The team also saw huge successes in their relays this season, with all three qualifying for top-ten rankings in the state. Hardin was a key contributor for two out of the three relays, the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay.
This season has served as a breakthrough moment for the Bulldogs, and congratulations to the successes of all of our athletes this season. Strong leaders and great successes show great potential for the team to continue to do well into their following season. We’ll see you next year, go Bulldogs!
