Spike Mob served up a vibrant victory in the student volleyball faceoff on Thursday Night. While wearing ski masks they defeated three other teams to win the colorful games.
The tournament, starting at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m., had neon-decked students cheering for their favorite teams from the stands. Each team was clad in a different outfit, and they ran onto the court amid their song and cheers of the crowd. Mason Kopp, a member of Spike Mob, says, “It was pretty chill. The teams got to play against each other and the crowd got to watch. Plus we dominated, that was cool.” And so the games began. With serves and dives, the players racked up point after point to the cheers and screams of the crowd.
Each match lasted ten minutes, and the team with the most points moved up the bracket towards the final. Each game was more exciting than the last, and finally the only teams left were Spike Mob and Fratabulous. The ultimate faceoff had begun. Spike Mob took the lead and kept it until the time was up. Kopp also said, “Last year we were eliminated in the first round, but this year we won the whole thing.” With a returning team, Spike Mob was able to dominate over the other teams and take the victory.
As some advice to aspiring future teams, Kopp stated that his team did really well, stating, “Communication and where we were on the field really helped.” Throughout the school year, Palisade High School has many events packed with excitement and competition, so make sure you don’t miss out!
