Thump thump….POW!
The game finally starts, silence filling the gym as hundreds of eyes are trying to keep up with the ball, following whether it touches the ground or lands out of bounds. On Sunday, November 10th, Palisade High School Volleyball hosted class 4A Regionals. The volleyball varsity team played two games, one against Longmont and the other against Steamboat Springs. The Palisade volleyball team was scheduled to play Longmont at 10am and Steamboat Springs at 2pm. Palisade crushed Longmont by beating them with a final score of 3-0. In their second match against Steamboat Springs, Palisade made the first and second sets a close call but Palisade managed to beat them in all three with the third set being 7-25. Palisade ended with great success and landed first place in Regionals. Congratulations to the varsity team on both games.
Senior varsity player Braeleigh MacAskill states, “It was a super fun day! We knew going into both games that we are hard to beat when we play our best game, so we were all really focused on just playing our best because we knew that would get the job done!” Macaskill and the rest of her teammates are now on their way to State. Let’s keep on cheering for them and to try their best to win all those games that are going their way. This is such a big step to go through especially since each person experiences their own growth as a player. MacA
skill states, “I think that any opportunity to play in a pressure situation always makes me more mature as a player. It’s really important to be able to perform your best when a lot is on the line, so situations like regionals help everyone to learn how to do that.”
Congratulations again to the varsity team and we wish you all the best at State.
