Making varsity for any team is always a giant deal, as it shows your passion and the talent that you have. Being able to compete for State or any kind of tournament will make you have a better chance at scholarships and be able to have opportunities for a higher level of play. This years Colorado State championship was held in Pueblo, Colorado. Palisade and Grand junction have a conjoined tennis team making it one of the biggest teams in the valley. Part of that team is Jack Yu, a Freshman that made varsity starting this year. Jack was the only Palisade athlete that made State as well. For the 2024 season, the Grand Junction tennis team was 7-0 (1st) in the league with a 8-2 over all. Dominating the competition and making it the top takes effort, but for this team all it takes is some practice and dedication in order for them to get into the right state of mind. Jack Yu said, “ We really worked hard to move our way up but in the end it worked out the way we wanted and I was happy with how far we had come from the start.” Making Varsity, State, and having your school first in the league is something to make your self proud and to always have the confidence that you can overcome anything. Especially when you put your mind to it.
