Glow in the dark, neon and a competitive spark will be ever so vibrant on the night of November 14th. This marks the day of the second annual Vibrant Volleyball fundraiser in which teams of seven will fiercely compete in tournament style volleyball games in attempts to reach victory. To participate, it cost $5 per person or $35 per team, with all proceeds going to help support the Student Council.
Rylin Elsrod, a Junior at Palisade High School, participated in Vibrant Volleyball last year and took home the winning prize with her team. Elsrod explains, “I wanted to play vibrant volleyball because I thought it would be really fun to do with friends. I thought it was really fun and worth the time and winning the actual thing also elevated my experience.” Not only does the competitive spirit ignite excitement and amusement, but the additional music, glowsticks, and glow in the dark nets and volleyballs that StuCo diligently arranged, also added to that much more fun. Elsord states, “I thought the whole setup was really cool with all of the lights and glow sticks and also the glow up volleyballs were unexpected but I really enjoyed it. This year, if I can, I would definitely like to participate again.”
Morgan Montgomery, a Senior at PHS is the head of this year’s Vibrant Volleyball fundraiser and shares her appreciation for the event. Montgomery explains, “Vibrant volleyball turned into an event that people really liked and it’s a lot different than every after school activity we’ve put on before.” Despite the many captivating events Palisade High School has, Vibrant Volleyball has reached great heights. Montgomery explains, “What makes this event different from others is definitely the student participation. You get to make your own teams and you have a lot of freedom when it comes to deciding what your group’s theme is and how you want to dress up and I think that makes it really fun.”
Although this fundraiser only took off last year, it still reached significant triumph. Even so, the Student Council is working tirelessly to make it even better. Montgomery says, “The biggest success last year was student participation. We had kids from other schools wanting to play in our tournament and that was really cool to see the engagement. To make it even better this year, we’re planning on having a student section at the games with the theme of neon-out to hopefully attract even more students that will have the potential to earn some prizes for watching.” The signups for Vibrant Volleyball end November 5th. Don’t miss out on the chance to have an incredible evening and to help make this year’s Vibrant Volleyball fundraiser an event to remember!
