Last Friday, Palisade had its first drive-in movie of the school year. StuCo worked hard to organize such a fantastic event with Toy Story, El Rey food truck, and an opportunity of a discounted entrance fee. This kicked off Homecoming week, a well awaited tradition in high school culture.
If Palisade students were attending hall decorating, in an attempt to collect spirit points for their class, they got into the drive-in for free. This attracted a variety of students, ramping up hoco participation and overall spirit. The regular entrance fee was $2, which didn’t decrease attendance. Students look forward to spending these special moments with their friends. Drive-ins always have a positive energy, allowing our bulldogs to connect and destress.
StuCo organizes and presents every school event, dance, and fun activity that make Palisade High School such a fantastic community. With great leadership and committees, the first drive-in was a success! Ian Shiao is Junior class president and SBA historian. He supervised the entirety of the drive-in. Shiao expresses, “It took a lot of thought and organization. I think it kicked hoco week off well.”
“It was pretty fun but it felt almost too short. Getting to talk and have fun with my friends was the best part,” concludes Shiao. Many Bulldogs agree with Shiao, as the drive-in is a chill environment to enjoy the homecoming festivities at a slow pace. It is the calm before the storm. Junior Kate Fricke adds, “Just talking, singing, laughing with my friends was so fun.”
Homecoming week is one of the most important and chaotic times of the year. Thanks to StuCo, our Bulldogs feel welcome to participate and attend every event, including the drive-in.
