On September 15th, 2024 former President Donald J Trump was golfing when multiple shots were fired by his secret service team. An FBI specialist stated to ABC news that the attempted assassin, Ryan Wesley Routh, had a loaded SKS-style, 7.62×39 caliber rifle with a scope. When the agent saw Ryan he fired multiple shots Ryan did not fire back at the agent and instead fled the scene in a black Nissan SUV and finally got caught on interstate 95 in West Palm Beach Florida 50 miles away from where the incident took place when his car was spotted. Palm Beach County, Florida Sheriff Ric Bradshaw stated, “The security for trump worked as it should have”. Secret service agents said Ryan never even had sight on Trump before they apprehended him; it does appear Ryan acted alone. Ryan appeared in federal court Monday, September 16th, and is now facing 2 federal charges: possession of a firearm as a felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number. He could be seeing up to 20 years in Federal prison. The FBI claimed Ryan sat in a bush for nearly 12 hours with an AK style weapon.
Kaleb McCain-woods, a Junior here at Palisade, commented on the situation. “I think it’s a security fault. This has happened two times and no one has noticed anything, especially the first time where he sat up there for hours. This is all a little fishy.” Kaleb also stated, “If he would have succeeded the USA would have gone into a poverty hole and there would have been a ton of violence throughout the USA.” Even with all the assassination attempts on Trump’s life, he is still running for the 2024-2028 presidency.
