The Smoky Hill Tournament was on Friday 30th and Saturday 31st. Coach Morrow says, “Overall, the Smoky Hill tournament went well. We were one of four teams to make it to the second day of play, and that’s something to be proud of! Canaan Ross (#1 singles) and Andrew Kirschenmann/Jojo Kirschenmann (#1 doubles) made it to the semi-finals, but ultimately fell to their opponents and placed third overall. They all played very well and I am proud of how hard they worked and how they all conducted themselves throughout the tournament. I’m excited to continue to watch them grow as players throughout the season.” Coach Morrow started coaching the WarDogs this year.
Will Flanagen says, “Most of the doubles tried their hardest and we put up a good fight against them but I would say most of our single players and especially number one doubles players did the best.” Will has played tennis for 12 years, 10 years on his own, and 2 years on teams.
During the Smoky Hill Tournament, the WarDogs beat Fruita! For more than 10 years Fruita beat the WarDogs, but the WarDogs are returning for the win! Come catch the WarDogs at their next match on September 25th, 3 PM at GJHS!
