On Friday important interstate highway I-70 was closed east to Denver due to a toxic spill. When you imagine a toxic spill you might imagine a green corrosive chemical that burns through metal but this was a flammable liquid that spilled due to a crash.
The crash that happened led to no casualties but caused the liquid to spill, authorities quickly sent in the fire department to clean up the spill. Flammable liquids and vehicles are never a great mix seeing as how cars release flammable gasses out from the exhaust pipe which can lead to a fire. There have been more toxic spills that have happened on the I-70, for example in 2021 in October in Veil which was closed for a smaller reason, or when a semi-truck rolled over and caused a chemical spill 4 months ago.
Interstate 70 is an important highway that goes from Maryland to Utah going through nine states. Grand junction is heavily tied with the I-70 as we are in the middle of Denver and Salt Lake city. Anyone who goes towards salt lake from Denver and vice versa will pass through Grand Junction. The I-70 is also a crucial highway that connects small towns to large major cities. Towns like Rifle,Vail and parachute need the highway to function properly.
Practically everyone has taken the I-70 and one of these people is Junior Lucas Mcknight who says “last time used the I-70 was some time last week” Lucas also Said “i like to ride through Palisade”
As of writing this most likely the spill has been cleaned up and the thousands of cars that pass through are probably passing by right now.
