The most anticipated sport this year, baseball! We are arriving to the season that is starting soon. Our Bulldogs last year had an amazing season going 18-7 with a league record of 12-0. The Dogs were first in the 4A Western Slope League. They made it to the 4A Region five tournament where they knocked out Central High school 8-3 to face Summit High School in the Regional Championship. Unfortunately The Bulldogs season was cut short with a very upset loss against Summit. Now it’s a new year and a new team. The season schedule is out and the tryouts are in.
The Palisade Bulldogs open their season to the Prairie View Thunderhawks on March 7th at Suplitzo Field. We have asked the student body in Palisade about the up and coming season. “I can’t wait to watch baseball this spring. Hopefully it gets warmer this year” said Hayden Moreland. This is also an exciting time to see the new Freshmen coming to try out for the team. “I can’t wait to play. I love baseball, it’s my calling, I think. I am excited to play in a new environment” said Freshman Cameron Kuhn.
The baseball team is going to be led by head coach Nate Porter and will be assisted by his assistant coaches Cameron Campbell, Josh Moore and Rod Porter. This team has a lot of returning skilled players and we also can’t wait to see the new players who we know will bring a lot of skill to the table. We have a huge season of excitement and possibilities for our Baseball team. Now the question remains, will this year be the year the Bulldogs bring home the state trophy. Good luck this season and remember to pack the stands on March 7th.
