On February 15, a Hawker 900XP airplane crashed near the Utah and Colorado border, according to the Grand County sheriff’s office. Two crew members, the pilot and co-pilot, were onboard the plane. The names of the crew members have not been released yet, as their families are being informed.
ADS-B data suggests that the aircraft took off from Grand Junction Airport, CO (GJT) at 17:37 UTC, and the last data point was recorded at about 17:47 UTC with the aircraft at a high rate of descent, about 46 km WNW of GJT. The NTSB will be investigating the accident to determine what caused the crash.
Many pilots suspect that the pilots of the Hawker 900XP were conducting a stall test, as the plane is known to be difficult to recover from a stall. However, this has not yet been confirmed by the NTSB investigation.
