Homecoming week is the best time of the year because it’s jam-packed with school spirit, bulldog pride, and activities uniting all aspects of PHS! To kick off the frenzy of fun, a drive-in movie was held. Even though school was not in session on Monday, September 25, students flocked to enjoy time with friends and make the most out of Homecoming Week ‘23.
The exchange of $2 and a Bulldog stamp allowed kids to lay down blankets, open their trunks, and relax. Two food trucks, Kona Ice and Nomad Bowlz were available at the event. The Thespian Society was also selling concessions. A crowd favorite, 10 Things I Hate About You was screened. Siena Miller is a sophomore and happily attended the drive-in. “ I enjoy walking around with friends, sitting up front, and watching good movies, like 10 Things I Hate About You. I think the biggest challenge for underclassmen is transportation and the hassle of getting rides from guardians or upperclassmen. So having a car just in case, was nice,” admitted Miller.
Palisade’s diligent Stuco is the mastermind behind all these fabulous events. Several committees work together to create such an enjoyable night for everyone! Sophomore Secretary Zoey Smith explains, “It’s really fun seeing everyone show up and have fun. Also, the movie was a great choice and a great start to the future drive-ins. During setup, I collected money and stamped people. There are five committees; directing traffic, collecting money, setting up sound, setting up the table and tickets”. Despite a couple of internet troubles, the movie ran smoothly. Our bulldogs are excited to attend the following drive-ins. However, it will be hard to top the iconic 10 Things I Hate About You.
