After beating Central and losing to Eagle Valley, the Palisade Bulldogs were very hungry for another win to beat Coal Ridge. But sadly, the Bulldogs lost to Coal Ridge 6-1 at Longs Park, with Senior Jayden Ford scoring a goal, which was a Penalty kick. Sophomore Juan Diego was the player who got fouled, giving Palisade their only goal. Coal Ridge scored a free kick early in the game, making the Bulldogs’ morale go down, but they were still in the game for the majority of the first half. When the second half started, the Bulldogs were ready to get back in the game and win, but made a very early mistake, making the game 2-0. Then, when Palisade thought they had a chance, they caused three penalty kicks in the span of 10 minutes, putting Coal Ridge up 5-1. The last goal Coal Ridge scored was a shot from one of their strikers, leaving the final score 6-1 for Coal Ridge. Sophomore Huxley Peak was interviewed about his perspective on the game and said, “We were playing well in the first half, only conceding once to a dumb free kick.” This shows that the Bulldogs were doing very well in the first half, but then made some foolish decisions, resulting in three penalties and two mistakes. The Bulldogs hope to win their next game against Fruita at CMU on the 9th of October. They’ve won 4 games and lost 5 as of October 8th.
