With a fresh roster and new leaders, our home volleyball team has been proving themselves despite some hard losses. On Tuesday, September 9th, the Bulldog Volleyball team lost to Montrose at home with a score of 3-0. This was the seventh game the Bulldogs have fought hard at this 2025 season, but ended up with their tail between their legs.
The game placed Palisade at 3-4 record for the season, being placed above surrounding schools such as Central High School and Grand Junction High School. The Bulldogs are also ranked 3rd in the 4A/5A Southwestern Volleyball League.
Palisade won previously against surrounding teams such as Eagle Valley and Delta, proving that they could fill in the shoes of the seven Seniors the team lost last year. When asked about the new team and dynamic this year, Sophomore Darcy Imer, a pin hitter and setter for the Bulldogs, commented, “We still have tons of amazing hitters. Our team identity this year is built off of defense, and making sure our defense is really good. We kind of have to do that if we want to hold up to taller teams.”
Imer continued to reflect about her personal performance. “I feel like volleyball is really a mental game before it’s anything physical, for me personally, I do pretty well mentally as long as my teammates are holding me accountable… during the Montrose game there wasn’t much that we could do besides improve that our plays.” she stated.
While fall is still in the air, be sure to catch a Bulldog volleyball game! Palisade plays at Central today at 6:00 P.M., so be sure to dress out and cheer loud. Go Bulldogs!
