The Palisade Bulldogs are at it again finishing another cross country meet in New Castle on the 12th of Friday last week. The six girls got their first team score of the season, and Hank Deford at it again winning first place at the meet. Making it another accomplishment for Deford, and many of the Bulldogs.
The meet was set early in the morning at 6:45. Last Friday with the girls starting their race at 9:00 and the boys starting their race at 9:45 in different waves. Varsity and JV started three minutes apart, making the anticipation for their start of the race adrenaline high and excited but nervous for the race . The Bulldogs crushed it and the girls were excited to have their first team score of the season, even beating Grand Junction Highschool. Palisade Varsity’s Senior Amy Tallott stated. “I think we did pretty good for our first team score, we didn’t get last so that’s good, we beat Junction.” The girls team and guys team did amazing even with the condition of the course, which was a mix of extending uphills and brutal downhills the team pushed through and moved on. Tallott also states, “The course is deceiving because the first part you feel like you’re flying, you feel really fast. And then the second part is horrible like the gradual uphill I despise that uphill.” This was a common feeling among the whole team and even with that they kept a positive attitude and persisted not giving up and fighting through the course and the other cross country teams like true Palisade Bulldogs.
In the end the team came out strong and fierce, giving it their all and are now training to get ready for the next meet which will be a big event for the team at Saint Vrain, and have goals personal and as a team to do their best and prevail through any challenges in the XC Bulldog’s path.
