Palisade High School’s Admin plays a very important role in fostering the community through keeping the school organized, answering phone calls, keeping payments secure, along with making sure the school is a fun and safe environment for students and staff. This week, Mr. Bollinger stated that new changes were coming to the school, all for the students and staff’s safety. Students, parents, and staff will all have to get used to this big change, but it is better in the long run for creating a safer environment for everyone. Mr. Bollinger says, “Honestly I’m a little sad that we have to advance our security, but Mr. Howard was just showing me that three kids were shot at Evergreen High School today. I’m excited that we’re going to become more of a secure school.” New security doors are coming to the school, the new doors will stay unlocked and locked during certain times. Parents will have to show their I.D and that will print them a visitor slip to come in. The idea is to create a more secure environment. The brick walls that are being built have the same idea. There are going to be gates in certain areas that you can’t come in unless you have a key, but once students are in, they always can get out from inside. You can’t come in those gates once they shut. The idea behind all of this is that some random person can’t just come in and go into the west building without being checked in. On the side note, Mr. Bollinger also wanted to tell students to try to be as involved as they can. “I still want people getting involved, coming to support their peers. Going to games, events, band concerts, music concerts helps you feel more connected and involved with the community leading to something bigger in the long run.” With new safety features coming to the school, no one should be worried leading to a more enjoyable high school experience for all.
