Boys Basketball season starts in the winter, but that doesn’t stop the team from practicing. The Palisade Bulldogs Basketball team was busy last June and July with workouts and open gyms. In these open gyms the team works on individual skills, playing together, and more. These open gyms are for the team to improve individually and as a team, plus it’s not just one of the teams it’s open to all the Freshmen JV and Varsity players. The open gyms weren’t just in July and June, they are also starting back up this fall. So if you’re interested, ask any basketball Players or Coaches for how you can play. When asked what basketball open gyms are, Freshman Jack Morby explains, “They are a before season practice after school.” Not only did the Basketball team just do workouts and training at the gym, they also did a team CMU camp this past June. This camp was in a tournament style, facing different teams as you go along in the tournament. Unlike the open gyms, each team is divided playing at different times and playing different teams. For the Basketball teams, this tournament was a really fun and competitive experience. In a way it was a tiny season that allowed the coaches to evaluate and get to see their new and existing players. Overall, Palisade’s Basketball open gyms have been and are going to be a nice way to practice before the season.
