On Tuesday, September 2nd, the Palisade Softball Girls won their game against Rifle with the final score ending in 6-7. Freshman Lexie Trotter has had a great season leading the team in on base percentage, slugging percentage,and fielding percentage. Trotter is in the top three in runs, batted in runs, hits, and doubles. Trotter also tied with Junior Jamyson Mancuso with the most home runs. Mancuso has been in the top three of slugging percentage and runs batted in. Senior MacKenzie Gray is having a great year leading the team in runs, hits, earned run average, stolen braces and batting average. Gray is in the top three in on base percentage and fielding percentage.
Overall, the team has great stats and are continuing to do well. All the players are connected and support one another and their JV and C team underneath them. They seem to have a well built relationship with the coaches and fellow athletes.
Sophomore Kennedy Kostur states, “I think we’re doing pretty good. We’re definitely more of a team this year than last year, and I think we’re playing well.” Kostur adds,“We’re pretty close with all the coaches. They’re all pretty nice and fun to be around, but they also help us out a lot, so we’re pretty close.” This goes to show that the Palisade Softball team is not just a team, they are one big family, something that Palisade athletes value. Kostur states, “I think we do. I think we really have a good team this year.” From a players perspective, Palisade has a well built and balanced team.
