Fall sports have begun, but for the Bulldog Softball team, you could say that this season is in full swing. From August 11th to the 14th, the Palisade High School softball team hosted tryouts for the 2025 season. The softball team here at Palisade has been putting in the effort before the season even started, welcoming Freshmen and reuniting teammates through summer workouts. The workouts have consisted of weight room training, field work, and batting practice.
Although the Lady Bulldogs lost six seniors from the previous season, there’s no doubt that this season is still going to be a great one. Last year the Bulldogs were 15-10, and third in the 5A/4A Southwestern League. They dominated rivals like Fruita Monument High School and Grand Junction High School, and even qualified for regionals. The team mostly consisted of upperclassmen, but now most of the team is made up of new Freshman and eager Sophomores.
New Bulldogs on the team are ready for the season, including Sophomore Irelyn Kinslow, who has been playing softball for three years. “I feel pretty good about coming into the season…our team bonding is really good.” answered Kinslow, when asked show she felt beginning the season. “I have some really good teammates… the bonds will build you closer with the team and a part of the school too.”
A returner to the team, Sophomore Ruby Ausband, played for varsity games last season as a Freshman. She shared her thoughts on the outlook for the season, stating, “I think it looks pretty good. Seeing everybody at tryouts… everybody looks pretty good, even the Freshmen.”
Even though tryouts were last week, the Lady Bulldogs’ first game is Today, August 19th, at 4:00 p.m. at Delta High School. Their first home game will be held against Central High School on August 29th at 3.00. Be sure to check out a game before the season ends! Go Bulldogs!
