Palisade Junior, Danyel Ishida-Farmer, is the Male Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. A committed athlete in baseball, Ishida-Farmer plays pitcher and outfielder for the Palisade Boys Varsity Baseball team. With nine years of experience in the sport, Ishida-Farmer is a key contributor to the team, bringing skill and energy. Inspired by his grandpa who introduced him to the sport, Ishida-Farmer has quickly developed a passion for the game that has only grown stronger with time.
“Baseball has been a sport in my family since my grandpa played. Every game day I would sit with him and watch the Rockies play and so I decided to try it myself and I’ve been playing ever since.”
Ishida-Farmer’s grandpa not only first introduced the sport to him, but he continues to inspire him in many ways. “My biggest inspiration is my grandpa. He is the reason why I started playing baseball in the first place. He messed up his elbow and couldn’t finish his career, so that motivated me to want to play even more.”
Driven by his profound love for baseball and his commitment to growth, Ishida-Farmer is determined to take his athletic career to new heights after high school. “Baseball is a sport I want to move forward with, whether that’s college ball or just men’s league.”
Throughout his baseball career, Ishida-Farmer has succeeded in many ways, one achievement specifically that standouts to him was during his play against the Montrose Redhawks. “My greatest accomplishment so far has to be the no hitter I threw against Montrose on April the 22nd,” stated Ishida-Farmer. A no hitter in baseball is when the pitcher allows no hits during the entire course of the game. His performance not only secured a win for his team, but also boosted his confidence as a rising pitcher.
Beyond the stats and wins, Ishida-Farmer appreciates the mental side of the game just as much as the physical. “My favorite thing about baseball is that 60% of the time you can fail but still be a top performer.”
