With a great school comes great leaders. Hank DeFord is one of these leaders, chosen to represent the Student Council as next year’s Vice President.
DeFord, who is a junior, has been a part of the student council since his sophomore year. He can’t imagine his high school years without it; the chaos, the setup, and the service is what gives him the enjoyment. “As vice president, I want to connect everyone in Palisade and make all groups of people seen,” DeFord states. His goal next year as vice president is to allow everyone to feel like they have a home at Palisade.
DeFord’s role in StuCo this year was treasurer of SBA (Student Body Association). In this role, he ran the funds for the council and helped with purchases within StuCo like decorations for dances and food for concessions. Next year, as vice president, he will be working with the elected president, Ian Shaio, to make StuCo decisions and run the council.
As for the election this year, DeFord says: “It was super chill. I ran unopposed which was a relief. I’m so grateful for StuCo trusting in me to be next year’s vice president.”
Outside of StuCo, you can find DeFord running on the track or racing 5ks. As a top runner for Palisade’s varsity track and cross country, DeFord has many talents he brings to StuCo and Palisade athletics. Congratulations Hank DeFord on being elected as next year’s StuCo Vice President, we can’t wait to see the great things you will bring to Palisade next year!
