Palisade Senior, Kaleb Reed, is the Male Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Reed is a two sport athlete in football during the fall and track and field during the spring season. In his current sport, track, Reed runs 100m, 200m, and 400m, as well as all relays. Reed has been running track since his freshman year, all with the motivation from one of his football coaches.
“I always give credit to Coach Mohr for inspiring me to do track. He told all football players that track will help significantly with football.”
Track has undoubtedly helped Reed in his football career, helping him improve his skill and athletic talent.
The head coach for the Palisade Track and Field team, Jill Reetz, is a witness to Reed’s athletic improvement and hard work ethic. She is appreciative of the leader that he is and his dedication.
“Kaleb Reed has been a dedicated member of our track team for four years, consistently demonstrating leadership and excellence. As a key contributor to all of our sprint relays, he has shown remarkable improvement each season, continually lowering his times in every event. This year, he is playing a crucial role as we work toward competing at the state level with our relay teams. Kaleb is not only a standout athlete but also a role model whom his teammates admire for his leadership, work ethic, and character.”
With four years of experience on the track team, Reed has a unique perspective that he brings to his teammates, guiding his peers with good leadership and a knowledge of track.
Throughout his years of competing and learning, Reed has grown in many ways, achieving goals and more. “My greatest accomplishment in track is competing in finals for the 200m in multiple meets last year.”
Being a student athlete can be hard, always being faced with challenges and setbacks. With the support from family, Reed has been able to face these challenges head on. Reed states, “My biggest inspiration is my mom. The circumstances she has dealt with growing up and how she overcame them is truly inspiring.”
Reed’s hard work, leadership, and dedication to both track and football make him an outstanding athlete. Supported by his peers, Reed continues to grow and achieve. His perseverance and role as a team leader sets a great example for his peers. Congratulations, Kaleb Reed, for receiving Athlete of the Week!
