Spring sports started last Monday, February 21st, and it’s clear the Bulldogs turned Tigers are ready to stick throughout the 2024-2025 season. Grand Junction High School’s girls lacrosse team, which is composed of Tigers, Warriors, and Bulldogs, comes together during the spring to tackle teams all throughout Colorado. The Tigers were first in the 4A Mountain West Leauge during the 2023-2024 season, and they don’t plan on slowing down, even with the loss of six stellar seniors this year.
The Tigers are ready for the upcoming season and excited to compete as a team this year. Sophomore Alexis Campbell, a second-year varsity member, commented on her team and the dynamic last year. “Almost everyone on the team was absolutely amazing. Everyone was so sweet, and everyone was willing to help everybody.” Campbell is not new in the face of lacrosse; she has been playing since she was in first grade. Campbell, along with her impressive experience, was the number one ranked Freshman in ground balls in the state. “I honestly just want the team to all put forth their best efforts, and do everything they can to better everyone else, not just themselves.” commented Campbell, on her hopeful outlook for the season.
This season, the Tiger Seniors are ready to set an example and carry out a legacy for the future of the team. Kennedy Stephen is a Senior who has played lacrosse for Grand Junction for three years. “I think having a really big bond with our Seniors, and everybody getting really close, kind of just creates a good community.” reflected Stephen on the way she would like to see this year’s team show up compared to the past.
Please be sure to attend a Tiger Lacrosse game this season, but be sure to show up in orange in black! We wish a hopeful season on all spring athletes, and go Dogs!
