Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for a thrilling match up as the Palisade High School girls varsity basketball team takes on the Durango Demons! Prepare for an evening of intense competition, and unforgettable moments. On Saturday, February 8th, our Bulldogs played against Durango and as it’s coming close to the end of their season they have been working hard. Durango was a tough school to play against but they continued to fight their hardest on the court. We had a losing score (42-49), it was a close game and our bulldogs didn’t fail to give 100 percent effort.
Sophomore Gracie Cooper was a star player during last Saturday’s game and scored over 9 points for the team. Cooper was a varsity swing her freshman year and is now a full time varsity player her Sophomore year of shooting the bright orange ball! She had positive energy throughout the game and after talking to Cooper, she spoke out about the game. “ We were coming off a win from Montrose and it was a really great win, Durango is a great team so we definitely came off a bit short, although we still came very close.” Cooper talked about highlights of their Montrose game which was last Friday on the 7th and how the positive win followed her along as she carried that spirit to Durango’s challenging game. “ Even though we lost, I’m still proud of us because we had a really great win streak going on and the whole team worked hard during the entire game.” Cooper said. Although that loss might not have been the best thing for our girls, they kept all their confidence and team spirit up even after not such a great time.
Losing may not be the best feeling ever but our Bulldogs sure do a great job at brushing it off and getting right back up and ready for their next challenge. On Friday, February 14th, the Palisade basketball team, boys , girls, varsity, and JV will be playing against Fruita which is one of our rival schools. Come out and support our Bulldogs before it’s too late !
