No one can really open a closet door to get to Narnia. However, the PHS Student Council could open the doors to the Lincoln Park Barn and light up the dance floor. On the first of February, Palisade hosted its annual Winter Formal, with an on-season theme of Narnia. Students took a break off of the second semester workload and gathered in the Lincoln Park Barn in formal attire to dance the night away. Student DJs took song requests while attendees moshed and sang. Palisade STUCO decorated the walls with snowy streamers and balloons. Lots of effort was put into the dance, but a great time was had in return.
Some members of STUCO put a little extra effort into ensuring the dance was fun for every student. Sophomore Gabrielle Spriggs was a member of the Winter Formal committee, and Beckett Carlton was the head. Spriggs commented on the success of STUCO’s planning efforts. “We definitely thought that all of the decorations were cute, and we really did like the food truck that we picked, because they had a student special.” Carlton spoke on the goal of the dance saying, “I think the goal was just for it to be as fun as homecoming usually is.”
The questions that are perhaps most important come to play in review of this year’s Winter Formal: Was the goal reached? Did the students enjoy themselves? And, did STUCO put on a good dance? Some students were asked if they had a good time during the dance. “It was so fun,” an anonymous student said, “The people, and the music…the decorating was kind of minimal, but otherwise it was nice.”
However some students did not enjoy the dance as much as others. One student commented, “I was really tired from the long week… and it was really crowded.”
Although some students had more fun than others, STUCO put in tons of effort towards this dance. Be sure to catch STUCO’s upcoming events on the @phsspirit instagram or @palisadepawpost!
