Strong foundations and relationships with teachers is the recipe to a magical school year. At Palisade, teachers and students do their best to understand one another and conquer challenges together. Composition and Literature (Comp Lit) teacher Emily Noble embodies exactly that mantra. Mrs. Noble is one of the student-voted strongest Comp Lit teachers so she was greatly missed the first three months of the 2024-2025 school year for her maternity leave. She returned to classes on November 11th, 2024.
“I missed talking to people over two years old, it was nice to be able to have a conversation with an adult,” Noble explained, “I missed the students. A lot of you guys are fun to be around so it was hard to not see you guys.”
Noble teaches IB Juniors, Sophomores in Comp 10 and Honors Comp 10 and Creative Writing. She goes above and beyond the traditional curriculum of Comp by enthusiastically encouraging and inspiring students to expand their knowledge and reflect on their perceptions of the world around them. “Coming back to the IB class was the easiest because all the students already know me so I didn’t have to establish any sort of trust or relationship with them yet. Other students, specifically the Comp 10 and Creative Writing class are going to be harder to convince that they will enjoy my class. It will take some time,” said Noble.
With only three years of teaching at Palisade, Noble brings a wealth of knowledge and perspective to her classroom. “I haven’t had students two years in a row before so, I’m excited to see what the IB Juniors can do by the end of the year considering I saw what they could do at the beginning of their sophomore year. It’s going to be pretty gratifying to see,” concludes Noble.
IB Junior Yuray Ramirez Martinez coins Ms. Noble as one of her favorite teachers. “She’s very energized in the way of her teaching and makes it easy for us to interact. If we need any help, she’s always there for any support or confirmation,” described Martinez.
IB Film, Newspaper, and Computer Science teacher Jason Franklin took over for Ms. Noble’s IB Juniors. He has a background in teaching Comp at Palisade High School, and worked for a newspaper as one of his first jobs. He enjoys turning his passion for literature, film, and analysis into a profession. Despite the adjustment from Mr. Franklin back to Ms. Noble, “I think we’re on the right track to grow as writers. From what I’ve heard from upperclassmen, junior year is going to be really big for us. So, I’m excited to see how Ms. Noble navigates us on this journey and going onto Ms. Popick next year,” Martinez commented.
We are so excited to have you back Ms. Noble! Thank you for being such an important figure at Palisade and contributing to the growth of such fantastic Bulldogs.
