“Breakout, break away, collapse!” What are these you ask? These are a few of the very many Hockey terms you’re about to hear all around. This year the Bulldogs will pair with the Caprock Eagles for a winter hockey team. This is very exciting as just the past year is when Caprock opened their hockey team for high schoolers all over the valley helping many players and students that have put in time, money and effort to play hockey be able to play for high school. Caprock as well just started their varsity team, opening more options for more students. Braeden Tompkins, a sophomore here at Palisade High School who has been playing with Caprock and is playing his first year in varsity. He states “ It’s good that we have a varsity team now because we did great at a JV but I’m ready for this season.” Tompkins has played hockey for 11 years now being a defensive player. He is also one of the 8 players that is strictly on the varsity team. He stated, “ On Mondays practice starts at 5:30 and we usually practice around 3 times a week.” He also added “one of my biggest weaknesses is that throughout the middle of the season I get burnt out but my biggest strength is I have really good communication skills.”
They will have their first game the 21st of November so be sure to show up and show out Bulldogs!
