Last Saturday the 19th, Palisade ran in Craig, placing 1st for boys, but sadly didn’t place for girls as several runners could not make it to the meet. This meet was very cold and muddy, making for a somewhat unpleasant run. In their last race before the Regionals competition, Palisade Varsity ran fast enough to get runners in first, tenth, eleventh, and fourteenth.
Hunter Rish ran an 18:09, placing him eleventh, right behind tenth place by 0.1 seconds. Rish talks of how he feels the runners did, “I think I did well, but I wish I could’ve passed the person right in front of me.” He also notes how well Palisade did as a team, “We placed first, winning another meet and getting ready for Regionals.” After a great race, he congratulates his team, feeling great about their progress individually and as a group, knowing how much faster they have gotten in the past season. He also speaks of Regionals and his excitement for it, stating, “Going to Regionals and having a chance of placing high is huge.” This season, the cross-country has gotten much faster and now is going to Regionals with a fast enough Varsity team to knock a few other teams down. Rish explains again how well he feels they all did, “We are continuing to get faster and place higher, we’ve now won several meets.” Palisade cross-country is moving up through the ranks, placing higher and higher and always getting faster. Congratulations to Palisade cross-country for the great race and good luck at Regionals!
