Last Saturday, October 12, Palisade cross-country ran at Snooks Bottom in Fruita, placing first for boys and second for girls. Hank DeFord was miles ahead, finishing 37 seconds before second place and over a minute before third, earning a great score for Palisade.
The Fruita meet, also known as Anna Banana, was a somewhat difficult race, as DeFord comments, “I think me and the others could have done better because we weren’t necessarily expecting a difficult course and it was more difficult than we thought but we still did amazing and should be very proud.” The cross-country team did great, and this was their league meet, meaning that it shows their placement throughout the region. DeFord also talks about this, and how he feels the meet went, “The Anna Banana meet was super fun, I’m really happy with how the team did and I feel like it was a fantastic league meet.” Palisade cross-country has improved recently, and has been getting faster quickly. They now are a big team in the region, as in past years they didn’t place as high or threaten the other fast teams. Although they are still a small team, they are getting faster and placing higher and feel like they can move up quickly. The team did great on the 12th and has a great few races ahead of them, so congratulations Palisade cross-country, and keep running fast!
