Pitches, strikes, and hits! There’s nothing like a softball game on a Monday night to get the week started. Last night, the Bulldogs brought in a major win against the Fruita Wildcats. The ending score was 13 to 12, a surprise for many spectators considering Fruita’s winning reputation. The game started at 7 at CMU and ended in a success. After a handful of games and tournaments, this was the game that proved the girls’ talent. Everyday after school since the beginning of August, the ladies have been out practicing for hours on the school’s softball field, practicing to perfection. Leading the Bulldogs to success was senior Anaiah Guajardo-Zarate who hit a home run, her fourth of the season. Jamyson Mancuso also hit the ball which got the winning run. But behind every team is a family who shares the same passion for the game. Before every home game, the lady Bulldogs have a team dinner to bond, discuss strategy, and have fun before competing. “We are all super close like a family,” explains senior Tya Pinnt who has been on the team for three years. Pinnt is an outfielder on Varsity who thrives off the game. “Playing with all the girls is my favorite part,” she says. Last night’s game was Pinnt’s favorite game they’ve had so far, but there’s plenty more they have to show. If you didn’t make it to last night’s game, there is one next Monday against Central. The end goal for the team is State, which there is no doubt they can accomplish. Good job lady Bulldogs!
