Palisade golfers aim for the sky and hope to catch some birdies in the tournaments to come. As the season continues, both the Varsity and the JV teams are continuing to putt their hearts out, but it may not be enough by itself.
Palisade’s team practices rigorously from 3:45 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. to improve and refine their shots. While this may not be your average tee party, many feel they need more practice to help the team gain consistency. “I think our team could improve drastically as we get more time practicing. Practice just ends too early for us to gain the skills this early.” Says Ethan Bevin, a sophomore on the golfing team and seed 4 on the team.
On September 5th, the Varsity team played at Cobble Creek, putting Palisade into 8th place out of 14 teams, with Ethan Bevin scoring 84, placing him 8th out of almost a hundred players!
The Palisade Varsity team has played in 4 tournaments this season, and their varying scores have shown this lack of consistency Ethan was describing. Some players have a more than 10-shot difference in their scores between tournaments! Ethan was hopeful that “Our team will get much better as the season continues, we will have more time to practice and make our score consistently better.”
For varsity, the Palisade team has gotten 11th place in two tournaments and 18th in the last one, with the players getting as high as 28th individually. But Palisade’s team isn’t only made of Varsity, the JV players are also looking forward to a great season with their weekly tournaments at Lincoln Park on Thursdays. These young players are hoping to boost Palisade up as they get more shots under their belts.
Make sure to wish the Bulldogs luck as they play through the season and cheer them as they continue to make golfing history. Go Bulldogs!
