As Grand Junction High School starts another school year, they also start a new era.
Grand Junction High School has been a center mark in the city for over 68 years. Whilst in those 68 years Grand Junction High has been a very well known and older school throughout the valley, having over 1,522 students on average per year. Having some students in a smaller and compacted area can make things hard for kids to learn and have the right education into their careers later on. Mean while, the School District 51 was planning on having a new school building, reaching over 2 years on planning and debating about how, why, and what are the most important things at the school. Including the new building comes with new opportunities and many ways to meet new friends. I interviewed a Grand Junction High School student, Adam Petitt. During the interview, Adam stated: “This school has many great things to offer, Marching band is my favorite. But having a new building is changing the perspective of everything here, and definitely starting a new legacy for this town.”
Having a new school will help many and teach students and staff that the District cares about them. Not only will they have new schools, but will also have a mark in history of being some of the first students and staff to enter that building. Many will appreciate and take pride in having this opportunity.
