With the school year crawling to an end, we have once again reached the point of the year where we elect the leaders of our student government. This is a pretty big responsibility for all students and one that each of us should be well informed about. The Paw Post has decided to reach out to all candidates to give them a platform to reach the students of Palisade and show them what initiative they would take to tackle issues in our school.

President

  • Will Neese

I’m Will, I’m a Junior at Palisade, and I’m running for SBA president to make Palisade a better place for everyone to go to. I’m sick of the small student sections and lack of spirit within our school, and as president I will bring back our old student sections. I’m running to prove that everyone deserves the classic high school experience we’ve dreamed of, and I promise that with me as President those dreams will become reality. Vote Will!

  • Morgan Montgomery

My name is Morgan Montgomery and I am running to be your 2024-2025 SBA President. I have contributed greatly to our Student Council these past three years within my role as SBA Historian, Sophomore class president and three time committee head. I am an incredibly passionate person who strives for something out of the ordinary. And that’s what StuCo is, StuCo isn’t about doing what we know to work, StuCo is about evolving ideas and tradition into something that is new and works for our current student body. As a diverse student here at Palisade I see all kinds of perspectives of our student body. Most students are tired of going to a sports game where our student section is smaller and quieter than the opposing team. I know I am too. With me as your SBA president, I can promise that the Student Council will create exciting new spirit themes for home games and single-handedly boost our school’s spirit as well as host affordable and exciting dances. My biggest goal as Current SBA Historian and hopefully your SBA President is to amplify our Student Body and Teacher’s voices and make StuCo events extraordinarily memorable. Your vote is not just for me; it’s a step towards a more unified and empowered school community.

Vice President

  • Ava Pierson

Hey there, my name’s Ava Pearson! I’m that girl who dresses up in silly costumes, always takes risks, and is the first in line to have fun for the sake of Bulldog Spirit. I’m somebody who wants everybody— and yes, I truly mean EVERYBODY— to feel as though they are appreciated and valued here for the talents they have to offer. I want YOU to recognize the wonderful things that you being to the community, and to know that there will always be someone in your corner cheering you on; and that somebody is me! I’m the absolute best candidate for this position because not only am I one of the hardest workers you’ll ever come across, but I’m somebody who truly cares; there are a million hard workers out there, but it is not only my ability to work to the ends of earth for our community, but my ability to TRULY care about every single student and staff member here that makes me stand out from the rest. If you’re looking for a leader who will not only deliver results but support YOU and the help foster the experience that you would like to find here, then I’m your gal. I’m no ordinary candidate, so remember to vote me for SBA Vice President this year!

  • Lynessa Asplund

Hi Bulldogs, I’m Lynessa Asplund, running for SBA Vice President. I have been devoted to student council since fourth grade, meaning I am equipped with the essential experience. I am invested in hearing your concerns, ideas, and feedback. I want to make our student sections bigger, ensure dances are the best in the valley, and most importantly I want 2024-2025 to be the most memorable school year yet! I ask for your support, so we can make this school year one to remember.

Be Bulldog Strong and Vote Lynessa all day long!

Treasurer

  • Hank DeFord

Hey Bulldogs, I’m Hank and I’m looking forward to becoming a part of the SBA cabinet. As Treasurer, an issue I’d really like to focus on is bringing more people to sports games and keeping school spirit high all year long. Can’t wait to make next year as memorable as possible!

Secretary

  • Dylan McNally

Hello Bulldogs! I am Dylan and I’m running for SBA secretary. I play lacrosse and I love animals. I’m devoted to supporting Palisades’ amazing environment, I love giving back to Palisade and I hope to win your vote by ensuring next year will be enjoyable and memorable for everyone!

  • Brittany Villa Valenzueva

Hello I am Brittany Villa Valenzuela and I’m running for the 2025 SBA secretary position. I am currently a Junior and this will be my first year in student council but I am also part of IB, Dogs and I run track! Students should vote for me because of my dedication and passion for student council as well as my willingness to bring different perspectives from the student body into the student council.

Historian

  • Ian Shiao

I’m a sophomore at Palisade, and currently serve as class president. I’ve been in StuCo for two years now, and I’m very excited to become a part of the SBA cabinet as Historian. I deeply care about our school community, and I want to contribute to the success and growth of PHS.

If you have any questions for the candidates or concerns about your school, reach out to them and talk to them. And to see how our Candidates could lead our school, make sure to be at the Assembly on Friday, March 29th, to hear them address the student body of Palisade before casting your vote!
