This past Saturday, the Palisade choirs came together to give their annual sounds of the season concert. All four choirs sang incredibly well and the night was wrapped up by an emotional Senior night celebration.
Although Palisade’s schedule couldn’t find a time for the choirs to perform at the school, they made the absolute best out of what they had by performing at a beautiful; church in downtown Grand Junction. The pews were decorated with charming Christmas decorations and everyone that came left with a free Christmas tree ornament. The four choirs performed on their own and then together for quite a few songs, and it was a great time to get into the Christmas spirit. They sang classic’s like “Rockin Around The Christmas Tree” and “Silent Night” as well as songs they have been practicing for months to be able to perform. The acoustics of the Church carried the beautiful singing so perfectly and the whole experience felt so cozy.
At the end of the night, all of the Seniors gathered at the front and gave small speeches, thanking Mr. Dowdy and Mr. Hendryx for everything they do for the choir. It was incredibly emotional and really showed just how much these Seniors care about this program and how much of an impact it has made on them. I spoke to Owen Bickham, who attended the performance, and he had this to say, “They’re singing was so incredible, I love Christmas and Christmas songs so much. And hearing all my close friends give those speeches was very emotional.”
