Palisade High School starts off the week strong coming back from a relaxing Thanksgiving break. This past week of school was filled with various activities such as a badminton tournament and a school dance on Saturday. The badminton tournament took place this week in the main gym which occurred Monday through Wednesday. Teams of two participated in a bracket-style competition taking place during the second half of lunch. The entrance fee for this activity was five dollars for student James Uribe’s sophomore project in hope to invoke the fun of the game that James loves to play. The tournament made $120 and first place won a $30 gift card and second place one a $20 gift card. Andrew Dady, a sophomore at Palisade High School, participated in this and shares his insight. Dady says “What made me want to participate in the badminton tournament was I just really thought it would be fun and a good experience.” The games were heated and intense as people were determined to win. When asked to reflect on the last two days of the activity, Dady states, “I thought it was good, maybe a bit disorganized but it was really fun.” This tournament had a very successful turnout of about twenty-four kids from Palisade High School. Uribe explains how he was surprised by the turnout and was only expecting about 15 people to participate so his expectation was exceeded by a great number. Dady says, “I thought the turnout was very good, there were way more people than I expected.”. This tournament was a great way to invoke some fun as well as competitive nature.
