Tick, tick, boom! It was finally time for the most packed volleyball game of the season, with the most hype student section, the best theme, and the sweetest win ever: the 2023 homecoming game. Last Thursday, September 28th, volleyball took on the Battle Mountain Huskies as our homecoming competitors for the second year in a row. Our Bulldogs were bloodthirsty for revenge, as last year the Huskies fought a hard battle, and took them all the way to five sets in a very close game. The Bulldogs still won last year’s game, but they were ready to demolish the Huskies completely this year.
It’s safe to say our Bulldogs completed this goal as they completely swept the floor with Battle Mountain. The freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity all won their games, and Varsity even won all three of their sets. The Huskies didn’t even stand a chance this year after all the work our Bulldogs have been putting in every day at practice. Every team practices from 3:30-6:00 pm making sure each and every skill is improved on for the next game. Lauren Hardin is a senior this year, playing her fourth year of high school volleyball and her 7th year in total. “I personally feel like I did pretty well, I only have one error of a serve going out, but other than that I feel as though I’ve been playing pretty consistently.” Hardin says. The difference between last year’s homecoming game and this year truly shows our program’s incredible ability to continue to improve over the years, so each and every game our players come back stronger and better than ever. “As a high I think we definitely have a lot of hitters and we have a lot of people who can play anywhere. For me, I play outside, middle, and right side, and some back row, so I can play anywhere the coach needs me. Overall we have really good defense and are a super strong serving team.” Hardin says.
The student section this year was packed, and everyone was dressed in their best neon-out attire, and were cheering their very loudest. One of our homecoming volleyball game traditions is the student walk-in, where every student attending the game meets in the cafeteria, to all storm the gym at once in support of our incredible players. Good job this homecoming game, to our players for their revenge, and to our students for showing up and supporting our team with their best spirit. Volleyball travels to Summit this upcoming Saturday to compete against the Tigers. Good luck and go Bulldogs!
