Last Tuesday the Palisades boys soccer team traveled to Edwards, Colorado to take on Battle Mountain. It was an intense game that ended with a huge improvement from the same matchup last year.
Tuesday afternoon the soccer team left Palisade with high spirits and ready to take on their rivals, The Battle Mountain., Huskies. During the game, Palisade had relentless defense and a strong offense. Unfortunately, the game ended with a score of 0-3. However, this is a big improvement from last year’s Battle Mountain game with a score of 1-7. “You can really see the improvement our team has made from last year,” says Jayden Ford, a sophomore who starts on varsity offense. He has played soccer his whole life and made all-conference last year. “Our back row was locked in the whole game,” says Ford. The game was highlighted with amazing performances from Jack Sechrist, James Uribe, and Bladimir Valdivia. “They were locked in and played really well,” says Talon Despain, “they definitely played the best out of the team Tuesday,”. Despain is a freshman at Palisade and started varsity along with Ford. He has played soccer his whole life and has a very promising high school soccer career ahead of him. “We’re ready to get right back to work after Battle Mountain, were definitely going to be running a lot and doing plenty of shooting drills,” says Despain. “Our team is really promising we just need to practice and focus on getting the ball in the back of the net,” Palisades performance against Battle Mountain goes to show the improvement the program has had in the last year and progress yet to come. Palisade’s senior night is Wednesday the 18th and they play Glenwood at CMU. Be sure show up and support the Bulldogs at their last home game!
