Another year means another Comic Con for Mesa County Libraries. On September 16th Grand Junction had its Comic-Con and every year has been a success. There are expo halls, panels, cosplay contests, and prizes. Comic-Con is an event that brings people together, and shows off creativity, and even helps small businesses. It’s a chance for people to come together in our community and get to know each other. Palisade student Karizma Woodered went to this year’s Comic-Con and had something to say, “It was a lot of fun, and the artists there are all so talented, I wish I could’ve bought something from everyone there!” Every year artists and others are given a chance to sell their work at Comic Con to make a profit, get new customers, and just get their name out there. Sometimes people will even sell their comics or manga to collectors. Comic-Con is recommended for everyone! Due to the event growing there will be some rules and etiquette, whether it’s your first time going or not. Some of these expectations include personal hygiene, asking permission for pictures, asking before you hug or touch cosplayers, respect, and using props awaringly. Woodard added, “I just really like how I get to meet new people with similar interests. This year everyone was super respectful and empathetic. Although there were just a couple of people who could have ruined the fun, Mesa County was quick to act and didn’t really let them do anything before it was too late.” We should expect many more comic cons hosted by Mesa County Libraries.
