This Tuesday, September 12, The Palisade Marching band performed at Valley Bands, along with the other schools of the valley. The Marching Band has been working hard for months and this was their first big chance to truly show off everything they’ve accomplished.
The band, under new command of Mr. Marshall, along with the help of Ava Fricke and Owen Dean, marched proudly on Tuesday, showing off our school spirit in the most extravagant way possible. The marching band started practicing all the way before school started, and they had plenty to work on. Not only did they have a new band director and new drum majors, they had plenty of Freshmen that had never really had much experience with marching. With so many moving parts, some might expect the band to be disorganized in some way. But the truth was quite the opposite. The band went out and played their hearts out for a packed Stocker Stadium and the other bands of the Valley. Palisade had a reputation to uphold after a phenomenal season last Fall, and it certainly did not disappoint. The other bands got to play through their performance, each cheered on by the other three bands, truly showing the support of schools in our Valley here.
I talked to Ava Fricke, one of the Drum Majors for the band. She told me, “It went great, everyone was really proud of their performance and it was fun watching all the other bands from the district.” Overall, it sounds like the event couldn’t have gone better. We’re so proud of our band and will continue to be there to cheer them on all the way through the season!
