Fall has started which means musical season is right around the corner. Palisade’s Theater Department has many upcoming projects and can’t wait to get started.
This year’s musical is “White Christmas,” a very old musical based on the film with the same name during the Bing Crosby and Frank Sinatra era. Following a group of four during World War II in rural Vermont who put on a musical extravaganza, Palisade’s theater department is very excited to see what they can do to make this musical extra special compared to their past shows. “Musicals are always special for people who have been involved in theater for all years of high school,” says senior Liv Sanchez who has been a part of Palisade theater throughout all of high school. “This musical was a great choice and having it in the winter months is a great decision, which is definitely a change because it’s coming up very soon but we are all very excited to see what’s going to happen.” Liv is hoping to score the main lead woman Betty, but Palisade’s theater department has a lot of hidden talent. Past musicals have also been during the second semester in January or February, but this year’s musical is coming up fast and is scheduled to perform on December 7, 8 and 9. Auditions were Tuesday and Wednesday after school and callbacks are today. Ms. V and Mr. Doty have been advisors of the musicals for many years now and this year they are taking on this leadership again. If you can’t act or don’t want to be seen on stage, consider being a part of the crew. This will be a very big show and the theater department needs all the help they can get. Or if you’re a musician, consider playing the pit orchestra during the show. Even if you can’t sing and dance, Palisade theater has a place for everyone to be a part of.
