Palisade Sophomore, Alexis Campbell, is the Female Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Campbell is an athlete in lacrosse where she has been playing on varsity since her freshman year being positioned as a midfielder. Campbell has a long history with lacrosse, having been playing the sport since she was in first grade. Her passion was first sparked by her father, who remains a major inspiration in her life.
“My dad always pushes me to be the best I can be and never lets me give up, no matter how defeated or tired I am of it.” The role that Campbell’s father plays in her athletic career is very special, always learning to grow and love the sport, all with the help of her dad. Beyond that, Campbell’s father is present not just in her athletic career, but also in her everyday life, a bond that makes life even more bittersweet.
Over the years, Campbell has truly found her love for lacrosse, and her passion for it is unbreakable. “I enjoy everything about lacrosse. It is like an outlet into a different world where life is put on pause to play a sport that I love.”
This enthusiasm fuels more than just Campbell’s love for lacrosse, but it drives her determination and paves the way for her success. She considers her greatest accomplishment in the sport to be “Getting posted on D1 prospects in Colorado and getting recognized by colleges,” a milestone that highlights both her talent and dedication.
With this momentum, Campbell is setting her sights on an even bigger goal: continuing her lacrosse career at the collegiate level. Campbell states that she would love to go D1 in lacrosse, and she is putting in the work to make that dream and reality.
The head coach for the Grand Junction Girls Varsity Lacrosse team, Michael Campbell, is a witness to Campbell’s athletic skills and outstanding performances. “Alexis is our leading scorer on varsity with 35 goals so far this season which puts her 10th in the state. She also has 53 ground balls so far which puts her at 4th in the state. We are excited about her future with us and where she can help lead our team in the next couple of years.”
With her undeniable talent, relentless work ethic, and unwavering support system, Campbell is not only making her mark on the field now, but she is also laying the foundation for an incredible future in lacrosse. Congratulations, Alexis Campbell, for receiving Athlete of the Week!
