Palisade Senior, Braeleigh MacAskill, is the female Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. MacAskill is a multi-sport athlete: she does volleyball in the fall and in the spring she does track. MacAskill plays an important role in volleyball as a setter. She keeps every play in sync and sets the rhythm and tone of the game. She has been playing volleyball since fourth grade, MacAskill says it first started when, “My mom introduced me to volleyball. She has been coaching for 30 seasons and played D1 in college as well, so my love for the sport really stems from her.” MacAskill has many people to look up to that are close to her “My biggest inspirations in volleyball are my sisters and my mom. My mom always encourages me and pushes me to be my best. And my sisters have both overcome a lot of adversity in their volleyball careers, yet they have both been so successful. I really admire them for their hard work and dedication to the sport.”
Over the years, MacAskill has grown to love many things about the sport. “My favorite thing about volleyball has to be the connections I have made with my teammates throughout the years. I have made so many lifelong friendships through volleyball that I am eternally grateful for.” As she is in her last year of high school, she has many people that look up to her. MacAskill’s hard work and dedication is a testimony to her peers and teammates. Congratulations Braeleigh Macaskill on receiving Athlete of the Week!
