As a Palisade Paw Post Staff, we strive to highlight the students who are making a positive impact at Palisade High School. This week’s Student of the Week is happily awarded to Senior Bulldog Kaedyn Nielsen. Nielsen was selected for this award by Coach D.
Our Student of the Week is always one with integrity, respect, and kindness. Nielsen is an amazing representative of what it means to be a Bulldog. Nielsen is an active member of our athletic community, working hard as a first-year football manager. When asked how she was enjoying being a manager, she stated, “It’s so much fun. It’s actually so much fun… football is like a really big family, even though it’s all boys. They’re funny.” Beginning her Sophomore year, Nielsen is also a member of the girl’s golf team. “Golf is like the same thing, it’s like family… a lot of friendships.” Whether you see her passing out water bottles to football players, or putting on the green, you can count on Nielsen to bring light and joy to the setting.
Palisade High School harbors an inclusive, safe, and welcoming environment for many students. Nielsen commented on how Palisade High School has shaped her as a person, claiming,
“I think I’m more outgoing now. I feel like in middle school I was really shy, and then I got to high school, now I just talk to everybody.” Nielsen shouted out Mrs. Huntley as a teacher that has made her years at PHS great, commenting, “I love math now because of her. All of my teachers over the years have been really good, I’m just not super close to them like I am Mrs. Huntley.” Nielsen shared that math is her favorite subject, and that she loved taking geometry and child development.
After high school, Nielsen has plans to become a dental hygienist. Our Paw Post staff wishes Nielsen the best for her future, and recommends all students to look up to Nielsen as a shining Bulldog example. Go Bulldogs!
