Homecoming is a huge event here at Palisade High School, and every year, there is one girl and one boy from each grade nominated to be a royalty. Besides seniors, there were four seniors nominated for homecoming king and queen. This year’s Homecoming Royalty went out to freshmen Bo Reimer and Jackson Morby, Sophomores Francisco Martinez and Eva Grako, Juniors Alexis Lopez and Talon Despain, and to the Seniors Emily Chavez and Hank Deford. These eight students were chosen among the student body over other nominees. These students were featured at this year’s Homecoming football game during the halftime show on Friday, October 4th. When asked about why Lopez wanted to run for Junior homecoming royalty, she said, “ i ran as a Freshman and I lost, so when I was a Sophomore I was like oh like I will just run again and I lost that year too, so when this year came around I put my name in and I was thinking oh I hope i win like third time is the charm then they announced I won and I was so happy cause I din’t really expect to win.” I guess the third time really is the charm. Our Freshman royalty Bo Reimer, was asked why she wanted to run for homecoming royalty she said, “ Well, since it was my freshman year, it’d be a good way for people to get to know me I thought it was a good way to start High school so people can like hear my name and would realsie oh like I know who Bo is.” It’s safe to say all the royalties had pretty strong reasons for wanting to be a royalty.
