The Athlete Of The Week Award Goes to Sophomore Huxley Peak. Peak plays soccer and does track for Palisade High School. Peak was nominated for his success as a student athlete and for his performance while playing. Peak is always at class and is attentive and always learning. When asked about his workload Peak responded with, “I have a lot of homework but I do my work when it’s school time and focus on soccer when it’s time for practice or games”. This demonstrates Peak’s discipline on when it’s time for soccer and when it’s time for school. When asked about how he felt being nominated for Athlete of the Week, Peak said “It’s pretty cool, I like how the school appreciates people who work hard in school and in sports”. Peak also said “I feel appreciated and it feels like I’m being recognized for my dedication”. Peak expresses his gratitude in a sense of being appreciated and being recognized as a hard worker at Palisade. Peak is also enrolled at the Palisade Ib program which also shows his dedication towards his education and his love for sports. This award is recognizing Peak for having good grades and being in sports for Palisade. In order to be eligible to play sports for Palisade you have to have under 2 F’s and under 3 D’s. Peak has always been eligible and always makes sure his grades are good to play sports. The award is a representation of Peak’s success and determination as a student at Palisade.
