Palisade Freshman, Gabriella Hurd, is this week’s Female Athlete of the Week brought to you by Palisade Dino Mart. Hurd is a two sport athlete who runs in cross country as a Freshman at Palisade High School. “I have been running cross country ever since the start of this season, but I have been a long distance runner in track for two years.” Hurd comments.
Hurd is an exceptional athlete noticed by coaches and players, who brings a positive attitude and the effort that everyone looks for in her cross country team. The love for her sport came from running long distance track, and she is already showing her qualities. “My favorite thing about cross country is the environment and how everyone is always there to cheer each other on, and just how encouraging the atmosphere is.” This is a sport that Hurd looks forward to continuing to do for the rest of her high school career. “One thing that inspired me to join cross country was the beautiful trails that we get to run all over the valley, and that has greatly inspired me to join the team.”
Outside of Hurd’s sport and academics, there are many things that she enjoys to do and that she finds the time to enjoy doing them. “Some things I love to do outside of school are playing piano, drawing, backpacking, and reading.” Hurd also has a very strong and encouraging group of people that push her to go harder every day. “My biggest inspiration is my family, because they are always encouraging me to do my best and are always there for me.”
The commitment and dedication that Hurd brings to the team is inspiring to many. Her positive energy and strong performance is what makes her such a standout athlete. Congratulations, Gabi Hurd, for receiving Athlete of the Week!
